December 2006 The latest club Newsletter has been sent out. The contents are reproduced here (pdf file).
Saturday 11th November 2006 Another end of season was celebrated by many members and guests at the Dinner and Dance in the Ballroom at the Marine Hotel, Tankerton. After the usual eating, drinking, toasts and speeches led by MC Paul Kelly the annual club prizes were awarded by our own Paul Monroe CARA President for 2006 and Ryan Epps HBARC Chairman as follows:
The Daisy Attwood Trophy for most Junior points- 'Harry' Roberts
The Henry Shepherd Trophy for the most points for the club - Dan Richie.
The Ken Standon Trophy for the most improved oarsman - Ian Baker.
The Ormistone Memorial trophy for most improved lady rower- Issy Nash.
The Trevor Horton Trophy for Coxswain of the year - jointly won by Samantha Epps and George Holness.
The Macket Cup presented for contribution to the club - Ryan Epps.

Saturday 21st October 2006 The annual CARA dinner was held near Eastbourne this year. A dozen Herne Bay representatives attended to pick up half a dozen trophies. Hopefully have more of a report soon
Saturday 16th September - The 50th South Coast Championships. No silverware this year but some spirited performances from the four Herne Bay crews competing. See details here
Thursday 24th August 2006 Herne Bay in the News Read about Ali's international ambitions with the adaptive squad on the BBC News Website Also in the news, did anyone see Dan on Newsnight last night? resplendent in his HB kit. Saturday 12th August 2006 Eastbourne Regatta Ladies S4 win and Mens S4 2nd place confirm their places at the south coast champs. A win for Richard in Senior Sculls was the only other highlight. Some controversy in other events especially with the starts - more details later....
Saturday 5th August 2006 Dover Regatta Only 3 wins today (Senior 4, Senior Sculls and Junior Pair) but Herne Bay's strength in depth wins the Grand Aggregate, Senior Aggregate and Junior Aggregate points trophies. [Read the Report]
Sunday 30th July 2006 Brighton and Hove Regatta unfortunately cancelled again - strong onshore winds.
Saturday 29th July 2006 Deal Regatta a few good results but trouble at the turns for others [report here]
Saturday 22nd July 2006 Folkestone Regatta A 5th win for HB's Junior 4 confirms them as CARA champions 2006. Further Wins for HB's Senior 4 and pair, Ladies Senior 4 and Junior Pair. [Report click here]
Saturday 15th July 2006 Eastbourne Regatta cancelled - no racing today due to the weather.
Saturday 8th July 2006 Southsea Regatta No Pompey Grand Trophy for Herne Bay this year, but plenty of controversy and some success as well, [click for report]
Saturday 1st July 2006 Worthing Regatta More Junior success - 3rd win for the J4 in their 3rd different combination and a 2nd J2 win for Dan and Paul. For other HB Results [click here]
Sunday 25th June 2006 Herne Bay Regatta Prompt start at 10.00am and finished at 2.10pm. [For Full Results Click Here]. Report to follow.
Sunday 11th June 2006 Bexhill Regatta a good start to the season with wins in Novice 4, Junior 4, Junior Pairs, Senior Pairs and many second places. [Report click here]
Sunday 28th May 2006 Shoreham Regatta Helen Bell and Natalie won the Ladies Pairs race but Regatta cancelled soon after as conditions worsened. [Report click here]
20th - 21st May 2006 Sponsered Bike Ride
Much money has been raised to buy a much needed new river boat for the South Coast Champs - this year at Dartmouth.
Due to the prevailing wind the ride started at Worthing visiting all the CARA clubs on the way back to Herne Bay. Nearly 20 riders finished the 1st day stopping over at Bexhill for a well-earned rest on the Saturday night (a couple got as far as Herne Bay in 1 day) Bad weather on Sunday forced some early retirements

Saturday 29th April 2006 The Viking Shield Regatta
Herne Bay retained the shield (so will host the event again next year) and won Senior Fours at the pre-season Regatta - [click here for more details]
Women's Head of the River Race As you may already have read on the discussion forum Natalie, Helen Bell and Emily took part in this major eights race and their composite coastal crew came 4th in their class.

Football match against Bexhill RC Another victory on the football pitch for the Herne Bay Rowers (plus a couple we borrowed from Bexhill). 2-1 was the score.

Herne Bay Football challenge Victory to the Rowers as the Anglers were beaten 7 - 1 today. Four goals from Andy Cooper made him top scorer.

Natalie, Helen Bell and Emily are going to be racing in an Eight for the fist time at the Women's Head of the River Race on the 11th March and will be raising money for breast cancer haven in the process.
