Welcome to Herne Bay Amateur Rowing Club!

HBARC is a completely different experience from your usual sport clubs. Coastal rowing is a physically tough, deeply rewarding sport. If you’re new to the sport there’s no better place to learn and compete than with HBARC.

New Members

HBARC is an exciting and engaging place to train and experience something completely different. We welcome all new members over the age of 13.

We race all through the summer from May – September, competing against other south coast rowing clubs that form the Coastal Amateur Rowing Association. We train all year round, whether on the water or the land, so come down and see what it’s all about.

If you are interested in learning to row and joining a physical and engaging sport, then please come down to our clubhouse on a Wednesday evening at 6 pm. For more information on how to join click here.

The sport of rowing is physically demanding but offers great rewards for those willing to put in the work. We look forward to you joining HBARC!

The club was in Folkestone yesterday and another day of collecting awards for some brilliant racing.

We had two more of our junior girls go up to senior level (Steph Rondel and Emily Noyes), but our rower of the day has to go to Lewis Perry-French, who, at only 14 years old won his heat race in novice sculls and then went on to beat seven other rowers all older and more experienced than him in the final race!

Here are the results of the day:
1st J14 quad (with our other crew coming third)
1st J16 boys
1st Men's Novice sculls (we had two qualify for the final)
1st Men's Junior four (with our other crew coming 6th)
1st Ladies Junior four (with our other crew coming in not far behind in 3rd place)
1st Men's Senior four
2nd Ladies Junior pairs (Heidi & Poppy) (with Emily & Steph coming 5th and Jasmine and Georgia coming 6th)
2nd J16 girls
3rd Masters 50
3rd Men's Senior pairs
3rd Men's JS four
3rd Ladies Double sculls (with our other crew coming fifth)
4th Ladies Senior four
5th Men's Novice four

And even though our Senior pair crew came third in their race, being the first out of the Kent crews, Herne Bay will host next year's Viking Shield regatta (normally in April).

Another excellent day, with a huge following from our friends and family.
